Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Wings

how to make lemon pepper air fryer wings

I’ve loved eating chicken wings since I was a kid.  I love them whole, sectioned into drums and flats and breaded, dry-rubbed, baked, or fried.  There is nothing better than a jumbo chicken wing smoked with hickory and applewood and then basted with a hot and spicy bbq sauce or blazing hot buffalo sauce.

My three daughters and I have eaten our fair share of wings.  We cooked them in the air fryer and baked and fried them.  At the end of the night, there would be plates full of chicken wing bones.  We’d have Caribbean Jamaican, buffalo, and bbq.

It wasn’t until recently that I discovered lemon pepper wings.  I like lemon and fish but wasn’t sure I’d like lemon on my chicken wings.  I couldn’t get past the traditional saucy buffalo wing made with butter, hot sauce, and seasonings.

After hearing all of the buzz surrounding lemon pepper wings, I decided to give them a try in my air fryer.  And wow was I impressed.  Why did I wait so long to enjoy something so good?  Now when I make wings, lemon pepper seasoning is in the flavor line-up.

But, my new love for lemon pepper chicken has evolved into cooking lemon pepper fried chicken and lemon pepper hot wings tossed in a lemon pepper sauce.

The fabulous part is that they’re not full of calories when you air fry them without any flour or breading.  I oftentimes resort to a low-carb diet when I’ve put on a few pounds.  These wings are also great if you’re on a keto diet.

Can you have lemon pepper wings on keto?

You most certainly can as long as you use a dry rub only.  Don’t air fry the wings with flour breading and make sure the rub you’re using doesn’t contain fillers that could knock you out of keto.

What goes with lemon pepper wings?

I mostly eat them just like they are, but if you want to dip them, honey mustard and cool ranch would be my choices.  You can also toss the chicken wings in a lemon pepper butter sauce and serve over rice or pasta with some honey-glazed baby carrots.

How to make lemon pepper wings in an air fryer

Cooking wings in the air fryer are unbelievably easy and no-fuss.  It’s as simple as Preheating your air fryer, seasoning your wings, and popping them in the air fryer for a few minutes.  If you buy the chicken wings that are already cut into sections, you won’t have much prep time.
