Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burgers

Cooking frozen turkey burgers in the air fryer is a quick and easy way to enjoy a healthy snack or meal at the same time it takes to grill or pan-fry a burger.

I love eating beef burgers, but I don’t always want the calories that come along with it. While there is leaner ground beef like 93/7, it just doesn’t have the same texture or flavor as an 80/20 ground beef patty.

The first time I tried a turkey burger, I was hooked.  A friend recommended I try the Butterball brand frozen turkey burgers.  I purchased a package and grilled them that night over charcoal instead of regular frozen beef patties.

Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted.  The texture was moist and the flavor was outstanding and the bonus was, less fat.

After that night, I started eating more ground turkey instead of beef.  It’s now my go-to when making meatloaf and burgers.

It’s so simple to pre-heat the air fryer and toss in a couple of frozen turkey burgers.  They’re awesome with seasoned sweet potato fries.

Best frozen turkey burgers

My go-to is always the Butterball frozen turkey burgers.  The ones I buy from Walmart are all-natural and made with all-white meat.  There are no nitrates or nitrites, artificial preservatives, or hormones added to the meat.  But most importantly, they’re ready to cook right out of the package, with no thawing needed.

Are frozen turkey burgers precooked?

It really depends on what brand you buy.  If you like convenience, you can buy them already cooked in most major grocery stores.  They’re usually called grillers and they only take a few minutes to cook.  I actually prefer to buy raw frozen turkey burgers.  They have more flavor than the pre-cooked variety.

How to season frozen turkey burgers

There are so many ways to season the burgers or patties.  I normally keep it simple with a little sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.  My other go-to seasonings are chipotle and Cajun seasoning.  If you’re grilling them, shake a little bbq rub on them and baste them with bbq sauce before removing them from the grill.  Bbq turkey burgers are yummy with a side of baked beans and potato salad.

How to cook frozen turkey burgers in the air fryer

If you’re capable of grilling a burger on a gas grill then you’ll have no problem cooking a frozen turkey burger in the air fryer.  It’s not complicated and takes very little time.  It’s as easy as preheating the air fryer and seasoning your patties.  Once the air fryer comes to temp, put the frozen turkey patties in the air fryer basket and flip at the halfway point.
