If you haven’t used your air fryer to cook french fries, you’re doing it wrong. You’ll be amazed at how the air fryer can cook frozen french fries. I’m more and more impressed at what the air fryer can cook and how good the food taste.
The biggest benefit is that you can enjoy great-tasting french fries without oil. Don’t get me wrong, I love deep-frying, but why deep fry something, when you can cook a healthier version and the end product, is just as good.
My favorite frozen french fries to cook in the air fryer is Ore-Ida crinkle cut and their steak fries. The steak fries come out amazing. They’re a hearty fry with plenty of crunch on the outside and tender on the inside.
I love them with a nice pan-seared ribeye steak and salad.
Are air fryer french fries healthy?
I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re healthy, but it depends on your definition of what healthy food is. For me, healthy is fresh, whole, and low in calories and fat. Fresh veggies, chicken breast, and grains are healthy.
But, they’re really not that bad of a choice when they’re air fried. There isn’t a lot of calories or harmful additives and preservatives in some brands of frozen french fries.
Frozen french fries contain fat out of the bag because they’re pre-fried. Before you cook the french fries, they’ve been blanched in hot water, flash-fried and flash-frozen. That’s why they come out of the air fryer tasting just as good as cooking them in oil.
How many calories in air fryer french fries?
That really depends on what the calorie count of your frozen fries is before going into the air fryer. For example, Ore Ida frozen french fries have about 90 calories per 3 oz. serving. Cooking them in the air fryer won’t add any more calories because you’re cooking without oil.

Don’t worry, you won’t be in the kitchen all day chopping, mixing, and cooking. It’s as easy as preheating the air fryer and loading your basket. They’re done in minutes and ready to be eaten with a nice big burger.
